HINGED UNITS

With no transoms or mullions to spoil the view, our Heritage hinged secondary glazing windows provide a truly unobtrusive glazing system. They retain the character of your existing primary windows, whilst delivering great acoustic performance, enhanced thermal efficiency, condensation control and enhanced security. Heritage hinged units can be supplied with the hinges positioned left or right, or top-hung to suit your existing windows. Hinges can also be butt style to provide 180º/90º opening, plus they’re designed to avoid hinge-drop, to ensure maximum durability. This is an extremely advanced secondary glazing system. Our hinged units are capable of supporting up to 120kg in weight, making them a popular choice with many of our commercial clients.

The units are fully square and sealed, whilst a single operating handle (positionable at any height) ensures easy access for large-scale systems. You can add the hinged secondary glazing window to any style of window from casement to hinged, as long as there are vertical bars. The Heritage Hinged unit is also the only style capable of taking a double glazed unit, beneficial to jobs that require higher energy rating. This installed over the primary window can achieve u values as low as 1.5

These panels also have a very easy lift out operation as you are able to lift every individual panal and then pull the bottom towards you for ease of release from outer frame. The panal then comes fully out giving you an easy cleaning functionality.

THE DETAILS

The heritage hinged unit is one of the best-designed draft proof secondary glazing systems there is, with its tight seal using q-lon draft proofing in its sash. It is one of the most versatile units as it can offer standard butt hinges or concealed invisible hinges giving you a discreet unit. There is also options of handles from:

  • Normal espag (which you find on normal plastic windows)
  • Standard handle
  • Removable handle

All of the above options can be discussed and there is always an option best suited for every individual/requirement. This window can also have a tilt'n'turn mechanism for ventilation purposes.

Most of our Secondary Glazing styles come in two different product ranges, The Traditional which is the entry level system, and the Heritage which the flagship product.

The main differences being the Heritage Range is more robust and able to take glass from:

  • 4mm - 8mm (with the exception of the heritage hinged unit, which can take a 4mm - 28mm sealed unit.)

The Traditinal Range takes glass from

  • 4mm - 6.4mm

CAD drawing and Test certificate (thermal, acoustic) available on request.
